Grammy Award Winner Jermaine Dupri Faces Serious Tax Problems

Posted on Jul 30, 2013

In 2006, Jermaine Dupri won the Grammy award for Best R&B Song for his hit song “We Belong Together.” He also allegedly failed to pay more than $3 million in federal taxes that year. He paid off the outstanding 2006 tax bill in January 2013 and the IRS released a lien against his property.

However, Mr. Dupri’s alleged tax problems have not all been resolved. He still reportedly owes the government just under $800,000 for unpaid taxes from 2008, 2010 and 2011. More specifically, he reportedly owes the federal government $646.47 for unpaid taxes in 2008, $140,889.76 for unpaid taxes in 2010 and $657,156.12 in unpaid taxes for 2011. That brings the total for allegedly outstanding unpaid federal taxes to $798,692.35.

It has been reported that the IRS has issued two separate tax liens against Mr. Dupri for the three years of unresolved tax debt.
