How can you avoid a state tax problem? Review the following tips:
- Use the preprinted forms provided by the Oklahoma Tax Commission whenever possible to ensure that you provide all of the necessary information.
- If you cannot use a preprinted form, be sure to provide your Federal Employer Identification Number or Social Security Number, the address of your company, the permit number, and any other requested information. Doing so will ensure that your return is posted to the proper account.
- Always notify the Oklahoma Tax Commission if there is a change of address, name, owners, or other important information relating to your business.
- Whenever you submit correspondence to the Commission, always include a photocopy of the letter that you are responding to. If you do not have a letter to include, enclose a letter-sized sheet of paper with the name of the person or the division that contacted you.
- Never write in the margins of a form, as the margins are used for document tracking.
- Be neat when filling out a form. Forms that are submitted neatly are more likely to be processed correctly.
- If tax payments are made via EFT, credit card, or some means other than a check, indicate this on your submission.
- When submitting payment, always make sure the amounts are correct.
